FANDOM

  • This term refers to an object being the last nested object in a collection of object of which the only child the object contains is a value-type (such as string, integer, boolean, etc).
  • The object this term refers to can not inherit or have children objects that are not of a value-type
  • In reference, to XML style syntax, this object contains InnerText but has no Children to encapsulate. As such its value is of type String, which is a primitive data-type.

Example:

<GrandParent>
  <Parent>
    <Child>something</Child>
  </Parent>
</GrandParent>
In the above example, the <Child> Node/Element is a stand-alone object. Since its InnerText, or Value, is consistent with a Primitive Data-Type.
Whereas, <GrandParent> and <Parent> Node/Elements are not stand-alone objects. They contain non-Primitive Data-Types as their InnerText.
